MR PORTER’s Manual for a Stylish Life

Now that’s we’ve made our holiday reading recommendation for our female readers, it’s time to cover the bases especially for those who are not particular fans of fairy tales, European princes and the frilly business of women’s fashion. We’re talking to you gentlemen, and we’re saying don’t feel left out because we’ve got goodies for you as well.

MR PORTER, the male-centric offshoot of Net-a-Porter, has just released its first paperback book, The Manual for a Stylish Life. The beautifully designed, 240-page style compendium features content from The Journal magazine (as seen on the site), including advice on fashion, cars, interiors, design and music, plus insider style tips, interviews and profiles with well-known men from across the globe (from architect John Pawson to actor Jason Sudeikis), a gallery of Style Icons, and a special section called “The Knack (and how to get it)” with illustrated guides to everything from dancing at a party to bonding with your father-in-law.

THE MR PORTER paperback uses both matt and gloss paper stock inside, a mix of illuminating black-and-white and colour photography and illustration, and the cover is crafted with traditional letterpress printing methods. Each copy also comes with a red silk bookmark ribbon attached.

The book is edited by MR PORTER’s Editor-in-Chief Jeremy Langmead, and designed by the highly respected book designer David Pearson, previously of Penguin Books. The art director of MR PORTER is Leon St-Amour.

The paperback is now available on and will hit the shelves in selected retailers globally from January 13 including Colette, J. Crew, ACNE, Saturday Surf NYC, Jean Shop, Private White V.C., Sunspel, Ami, Folk and Richard James.
