Last week, La Moda Dubai attended the seasonal fashion show by the one of the city’s hottest imported multi-brand stores, Harvey Nichols. First of many shows to follow in presenting the coming season’s collections in Dubai, Harvey Nichols did an amazing job at infusing social glam and catwalk style.

The overflowing canapés and cocktails together with the lively background music and chic runway backdrop made an fashionably inviting atmosphere that created a kind of sartorial suspense for show that was about to come. And, of course, the city’s fash pack that made it to the show as always was stunningly fabulous.

Fashion-wise, we witnessed a good splash of Spring/Summer 2012 trends on the Harvey Nichols runway. The show began with a daring explosion of prints and colours where bright bursts of cobalt, yellow, orange and berry, neon and other zesty hues lit up the catwalk.

Various designers such as Marni, Emilio Pucci, Moschino, Alexander McQueen, among others were well showcased in remarkable prints, digitally designed florals, geometric motifs, paisley, tribal and Hawaiian for maximum impact in the form of dresses and fancy pants.

Also present were the sweet pastels in powdery hues of blush pink, baby blue, mint green, jonquil yellow and cloudy beige for a soft and dreamy mood as seen in Lanvin, Giambattista Valli and Herve frocks. The lacy numbers by Alberta Ferretti and Stella McCartney are presented as lovely options for fresh and dainty look this season.

White still proves to be the ultimate comeback – at the show we lusted over the Yves Saint Laurent top and Alaia dress. Fifties inspired silhouettes were also on the runway featured mid-length skirt, silk taffeta and multiple layers (think Donna Karan, Chloe and Rachel Zoe).

Evening wear by Monique Lhuillier, Reem Acra and Marchesa, paired with jewellery by H. Stern, Asprey, Sevan Beckaki, Ivanka Trump and Style of Jolie were the show stoppers.

Accessories also made an impact in big, bold stunning shapes and colours. We could not get hold of ourselves with the sight of luscious pairs of Jimmy Choo, Sergio Rossi, Guiseppe Zanotti, Manolo Blahnik, Brian Atwood and Le Silla. Of course, the must-have wrist candies by Balenciaga, Dolce & Gabbana, Bottega Veneta, Nancy Gonzalez and VBH took our breath away.
