It’s round-up time, everyone! As 2011 draws to an eventful close, we look back at some of the most notable events that took place in the world of fashion in the UAE and across the globe during the course of the year.

Gisele Bundchen photoshopped in H&M’s GCC campaign

Brazilian supermodel Gisele Bundchen’s photos for H&M’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection were “adjusted” to better suit the GCC market. Exposed parts that would have normally been blacked out with a marker (if it came in an imported print magazine) were covered up in virtual shirts and vests.

Nearly every important fashion blog and magazine picked up our story, from Fashionista to British Vogue to French Elle, because apparently it’s a big deal for them when it’s just such a common sight in this part of the world. Even H&M admitted they regularly alter campaigns to align with the sensibilities of specific markets.
