Beauty Adventure: Trying on Illamasqua

We love going for facial, massage and spa treatment but we barely say yes to make-over. But we couldn’t say no to the appeal of the British brand Illamasqua when they lured as with these words: “This is about expressing your darker, sexier side through make-up. We do not follow fashion we encourage individuality and creativity.”

Entice our curiosity, and we’re on. So, off we went to Bloomingdale’s in The Dubai Mall and met with Illamasqua’s make-up expert Zahra who introduced us to the amazing collections that they have in store. As she relayed, Illamasqua is more than a make-up brand. It’s actually an act and an attitude, a confident statement of self-expression, a celebration of idiosyncrasies. It empowers women to accentuate their look beyond the norm.

Born out of the creative mind of renowned make-up artist Alex Box, Illamasqua make-up is highly pigmented, has been designed by professional make-up artists and tested on film sets and make-up artists across the world love it.

The brand has a huge colour range and lots of bold and bright colours so make-up artists have all the tools they need to create amazing looks.

After going through the wide range of make-up on the shelves, in addition to the expert consulting of Zahra, we were able to finally choose the shades that would fit us for a day look.

From its collection aptly coined Theatre of the Nameless (which is going to be out by September 15 in Bloomingdale’s), we loved the Cream Pigment which comes in two new brazen shades – Androgen (coral) and Depravity (magenta) – with intensely colour-rich and crease resistant matt formula.

We also favored the Shimmer Blusher which makes us glimmer like a star, adding radiance to the face, with two new shades: Ambition (neutral) and Morale (rosed flush).

Equally besotting is the Intense Lipgloss that comes in dark, sultry Façade (grey pink) and Violate (dark green shimmer), paving the way for the ultimate high-shine power-pout that will stop them in their tracks at a hundred paces.

We were not able to try it but the Illamasqua False Eye Lashes the fluttering, tapered extravagance of the aptly named Grandeur and the thick, long, luxurious Blackened Auburn Weimar seemed to be very eye-catching. If you’re looking for the best way to capture attention, it’ll be worthy to try these lashes especially for a dramatic gimmick or a costume party.

Overall, visiting Bloomingdale’s at ten in the morning for an Illamasqua make-over was both fun and exciting experience. As Illamasqua dared us, “It’s time to cross the threshold and enter a realm of adventurously beautiful make-up. The only limit is your imagination.” True enough, aside from getting a number of make-up tricks, we also learned a lot about expressing ourselves through make-up.
