Must-have: Gucci’s bamboo jewellery collection
It’s pretty much established that only Gucci can rock a material as identifiably third-world as bamboo and incorporate it into a high-fashion statement, so it’s only natural for them to keep doing what they’re good at.
This time, the iconic Florentine luxury label is reinterpreting the bamboo bracelet, first released in 1971 and has since undergone a series of structurual facelifts, further emphasising the dynamic contours of the bamboo plant. From rings, earrings to bracelets, cufflinks and necklaces, the Bamboo icon is crafted in 18kt gold and can be decorated with white or brown diamonds.
But we wonder, should Gucci release a line of bangles made from varnished bamboo, trimmed with precious metals, sprinkled with the odd diamond here and there – complete with a leather tassel? That would create more of a harmony when you’re wearing it with one of their bamboo-handled purses, no?
