Marchesa’s Georgina Chapman to size up contestants in Frost Boutique design competition
Listen up because this may be one of the competitions that’s worth joining for would-be bridal designers. Why? Well, if you do well enough, your sketch might end up in the hands of Georgina Chapman.
Yes, that’s right. The co-founder and designer for New York-based fashion house Marchesa, has been brought onto the board of judges and will be deciding who wins the competition by Frost Bridal Boutique.
Frost Boutique is looking for the next breakthrough; rising star and the next top bridal designer in the region to create a bridal dress that epitomizes style, class and originality.
Following the theme of “vintage redefined”, Frost Boutique is encouraging participants to think outside the box – do away with the old notions of what vintage is supposed to look like and reinvent the whole aesthetic without losing touch of its essence.
Each can have their own mood board and inspiration, as long as it reflects the vintage revolution’s desired effect. And the designer should explain to the judges how his/her design came about in a covering letter explaining the design.
Sketches will be thinned out by a panel of judges from the local fashion industry, including Frost Boutique managing director Dima Khalaf, Martha Steward Weddings editor Noor El Deeb and CSPR Managing Director Danielle Naqvi. The semi-finalists will then be announced and their sketches sent to Georgina Chapman to pick the region’s next breakthrough bridal designer.
We’re liking the idea of inviting designers from well-established international fashion houses to judge the work of potential designers in the region, not just for the obvious PR value, but to include a fresh set of eyes into the mix of judges. Should this become the standard in all fashion design competitions in the future?
Confident your sketch will wow Georgina Chapman? Submit your designs via email at email@example.com. You can also drop them off at Frost, located at the Palm Strip Mall on Jumeirah Beach Road.
