Even when mobile phones have overtaken them as modern civilization’s primary timekeeping device, watches are still a rudimentary element of styling that can make or break an entire outfit. Svelte dress plus chunky timepiece? That’s high up there in styling disasters 101.

Today we shine the light on Moschino Cheap and Chic’s ultra-stylish scarf watches, because we don’t get enough opportunities to wear scarves here in the Middle East. Available in a classically attention-seeking print in both black and white, Moschino’s silk-strap wrist candy is a perfect way to add some pizzazz to a plain tee and shorts Dubai Summer uniform.

Also on the menu are D&G’s Hermes-inspired ladies watches. The diffusion brand does away with its usually flamboyant styles and looks to the French luxury label’s classic, minimal and enduring aesthetic. If rumours are true that the D&G name is dying (to be incorporated into the main Dolce & Gabbana line, we keep hearing), then this might be one of your last chances to get a piece of the brand.

Finally, now that the city’s fashion flock are realizing that colour-blocking met its untimely demise three months ago, the trend is moving towards using accessories incorporate accents into a neutral-hued look. Vision-impairing honeysuckle-acid green-cornflower combos are out.

Instead, wear brights and fluorescent shades in smaller quantities – Swatch’s leather bands provide an easy transition from Picasso forgot paint shading to a colour-aware, socially responsible, non-visually assaulting outfit.
