Jimmy Choo for men launching on Mr. Porter – do Jimmy Choo x H&M shoes look better?
The word’s been out and the images have been spreading all over the Internet – as we reported in December last year, Jimmy Choo is set to launch the brand’s return to men’s footwear, and it’s all happening on Mr. Porter this month.
We wonder, is the new collection going to live up to all the hype it’s received this word got out seven months ago? Looking at the images, we can’t say it is. And since Jimmy Choo’s last foray into men’s fashion was its drool-worthy collaboration with H&M, we couldn’t help but compare the shoes from that high-meets-low range to this forthcoming collection – do they actually look better than Jimmy Choo’s F/W 2011 line?
The H&M collaboration launched in 2009 had some seriously sleek Chelsea boots and ruggedly macho three-buckled work boots, both of which we loved and wish we could have gotten our hands on two years ago.
Meanwhile, the new collection features double-monk strap boots, suede Oxfords, some kind of embroidered Matador shoes, shearling-lined sneakers (meh) and rugged-sole Chelseas (but why?).
Although we can see ourselves buying the classic Oxfords and the monk-strap boots, we didn’t find the sneak peek into the forthcoming line overly exciting. But we hope to be amazed when the full collection becomes available this month. Fingers crossed.
