Bvlgari Le Gemme sunglasses start at $44,000
As if the general populace don’t already consider Bvlgari as an unattainable luxury brand, the Italian jewellery brand has unveiled yet another collection of accessories that will make shopper palpitate as soon as they see the price tags.
Bvlgari has partnered with Luxottica, a Milan-based manufacturing company that produces sunglasses for high-profile labels such as Chanel, Prada and Dolce & Gabbana, to produce its haute-jewellery eyewear collection called Le Gemme.
Bvlgari’s Le Gemme eyewear draws inspiration from vintage silhouettes, with cat’s eye frames (think Prada, only more sparkly and with two additional zeros at the end of the price tag) and various other elements from the 1950’s and 1960’s.
Bvlgari also revives its sapphire flower design, introduced sixty years ago, and incorporates the iconic element into the construction of the Le Gemme frames.
On the upper end of the scale is the Le Gemme Rare, a 10-piece range of one-of-a-kind sunglasses adorned with precious stones.
No news yet on when the exquisite eyewear collection will hit our shores, but perhaps that doesn’t matter anyway. Anyone who’s willing to drop $44,000 on a pair of UV-blocking specs won’t have a problem with flying all the way to the Bvlgari HQ in Rome to snag one.
