VIDEO: Anna Wintour talks VOGUE.COM’s access and authority
VOGUE.COM is the most important fashion website there is everyone who thinks otherwise is fooling themselves. At least that’s the extract we got from Anna Wintour’s interview with CNN, following her acceptance of the site’s People’s Voice Webby this week.
Fashion’s high priestess was sure to rub it in everyone’s faces that Vogue has the access and the authority that not many can say about their own online enterprise; she brought it up five times during the four-minute interview – that’s more than once every 60 seconds. We get it already.
With Vogue’s influence in the global fashion industry, Wintour is sure that the site will grow even further as time goes on. Being launched only in September last year, VOGUE.COM is a relatively new site but its numbers have grown steadily since it was redesigned from a hideous, old newspaper-looking site into an interactive, and more importantly, aesthetically pleasing beacon of style and culture.
Even Anna Wintour knows it, whoever Vogue calls will pick up the phone. How can something not flourish in a situation like that? Anna may have jumped on the bandwagon fashionably late, but she’s done a good job at making the brand a relevant entity in the online world.
