Zara takes on Anna Wintour’s signature style
Is it just us or is this old fashion lady look championed by Anna Wintour finally catching on? The famous editor’s elegant, ever-composed look – reminiscent of a chic librarian who reads more VOGUE than Voltaire – has become one of the most recognizable in the world of fashion.
And it has finally invaded the high street, or at least a trademark element that carries the aesthetic. The signature round-neck tweed cardigan, frequenty worn over a simple dress and accented by a statement pearl or bead choker, has now become hot public property.

Case in point, Zara’s Spring/Summer 2011 collection has taken the style on and injected a little bit of youth into it by playing with details, zippers and golden hardware and using quilted leather instead of heavy knit fabrics.
With the textured cardigan crossing over to public domain, it’s now open to fresher takes on styling such as pairing with jeans or shorts for that laid-back, off-duty appeal – something you’d never see Ms. Wintour go for. Check out your local Zara store for these current pieces, with prices ranging from AED 350 to AED 495.
