Lady Gaga, Thierry Mugler’s Nicola Formichetti and MAC Cosmetics team up for Viva Glam

Lady Gaga pretty much only appears here on La Moda when she does something worth mocking, like wearing a meat dress, but sometimes the pop star and Queen of Twitter initiates something so awesome that we have to tell the world about it.

In association with MAC Cosmetics, the Born this Way singer has launched a campaign to raise the most money ever for the MAC AIDS Fund.

Through the sales of an exclusive tint of lip gloss and lipstick – a creamy beige inspired by Mother Monster’s affinity with nudity and exhibitionism – MAC Cosmetics and Gaga hope to ramp up their fund-raising efforts to help men, women and children living with HIV/AIDS.

And in an effort to generate more buzz around the initiative, MAC and Gaga are collaborating with Thierry Mugler’s creative director Nicola Formichetti to create what they tout as “the largest global fashion collaboration ever.”

Through the campaign’s website VivaGlam.com, uploading your portrait can be your ticket to becoming one of the most recognizable faces today. Winning entries will become part of a wearable piece of art that will be crafted by Formichetti and worn by Lady Gaga.

Giving promises of instant stardom to the superstar wannabes of today while asking them to do their bit for a humanitarian cause?  We can already hear hordes of people shouting “We’re totally in!” We think this is an amazing way to engage an audience to promote a charitable initiative – speaking to people in a language that they understand and in terms that they will be interested in. Kudos to Lady Gaga and MAC Cosmetics!
