Be a stylist for Saks Fifth Avenue Dubai
Imagine a luxury department store sourcing for stylists for a major fashion show from the general public without social media. It’s kind of difficult, isn’t it? Well, thank god for the technologies of our generation because Saks Fifth Avenue Dubai is looking for aspiring stylists to help them create looks for their upcoming Spring/Summer 2011 show to be held next month.
And they’re doing it via facebook. It’s democratization of fashion at its finest, and tech-savviest might we add.
Participants only need to answer a few questions on the Saks Dubai facebook page. Give the sartorial experts a Saks a good reason why you of all people should be picked and you’re going through to the next round. You will then be invited to the store on Saturday, February 12, where you and a few shortlisted others will be asked to style three mannequins (one day look, one night out look, and one work look) using the current season merchandise in the store. The Saks Fifth Avenue visual team will photograph all the looks, which will then be posted on Facebook.
The pictures will be on-line for one week, up for public voting. The stylist whose looks get the most “likes” will win the Saks Fifth Avenue Dubai stylist competition. In addition to having the pride of being able to put down “Assistant Stylist for the Saks Fifth Avenue SS2011 Fashion Show” on their resume, the winner will also get two front row tickets to the show and AED 500 worth of gift vouchers to spend on anything in the store.
There’s not much you can buy with that kind of money, but hey, helping out and seeing one of your looks walk down the runway on a real-life model for all your friends and Dubai’s fash pack to see is big enough a prize for us. To join the contest, click here.
