The Beauty File: All for youth
As we age, we try everything we can to avoid signs of ageing like they’re the most unsightly thing in the world. Some may argue that with age comes wisdom, and so we shouldn’t be ashamed of fine lines and saggy faces.
But that argument just won’t fly here. The UAE is all about youth – it’s younger than a chunk of its residents – and we’re all doing everything within our power to hold on to it – without botox. To make it easier for you, we’ve got the lowdown on the newest anti-aging products out on the market, so you can focus your energy on staying young instead of scouring the beauty counters for products to keep young.
Guerlain Orchidée Impériale
After over a decade of research into the wonders of the wild orchid, Parisian perfumer and global beauty powerhouse Guerlain has successfully unlocked the mystery of the flower’s longevity to offer women the ultimate luxury of exceptional age-defying skincare. Guerlain identified 30,000 orchids and zeroed in on three to create a unique combination of three flowers with cumulative proper ties, assembled in a real concentrate of longevity: the New-Generation Imperial Orchid Molecular Extract.
With this extract, the brand has successfully launched a range of skin care products formulated to combat premature ageing and in 2011, a year after the release of the Orchidée Impériale Cream, Guerlain is unveiling a new addition to the family – the Orchidée Impériale Eye and Lip cream.
The longevity concentrate in the Orchidée Impériale line plays its age-defying role to the full, acting on the six fundamental mechanisms of youth to “turn back cellular time” and delay the cells’ entrance into senescence: the number of active young cells increases, their surrounding ecosystem is protected and their life expectancy rises. Day after day, the skin of the eye and lip contour recovers life; its suppleness and tone are restored. Wrinkles and fine lines are smoothed, and dark circles fade away.
To combat the consequences of cellular senescence, this natural active ingredient deploys its power of action by inhibiting by almost a third the MMPs that break down the skin’s support proteins. The damage caused by this destructive action is even more visibly accentuated in these areas due to the fineness of the epidermis.
