That Reiss dress by Kate Middleton

Who could have imagined a simple, out-of-season cream dress would get so much attention from the fashion press, a year after it was first released by a mid-market retailer? No one.

But if they had known Kate Middleton was going to be the latest, and most effective, platform in fashion advertising, then they would invested more time and energy into getting their pieces worn by the royal fiancee. REISS’s seasons-old dress came to the limelight (no one noticed it the first time it was sold so no, we’re not saying “again”) when Kate appeared in it in her official engagement photos with Prince William, and has since been announced to be re-released by the brand as part of their Spring 2011 collection – just to keep the imitations and eBay scalpers at bay.

What social media? Kate Middleton is the way to go.
