Jimmy Choo to start making men’s shoes again

Women rejoice. Here’s another reason to do the shopping for the husband. Taking cue from Christian Louboutin’s recent foray into men’s footwear, Jimmy Choo has announced that it will be stepping back into the business of making shoes for men come Fall 2011.

The much-awaited collection will include dress shoes, moccasins, casual biker boots, sneakers and evening slippers (no fringed Ugg boots, thank God).

Here’s to hoping we’ll find them here at the Dubai Mall store.

The master shoemaker has reconsidered making shoes for the big boys again, nine years after it exited the business, following a favourable response to its collaboration with Swedish high-street brand H&M last year which included men’s footwear. “The H&M collaboration showed us that our brand is bigger than our business today and that there is a demand for the Jimmy Choo aesthetic in the men’s categories,” CEO Joshua Schulman said in an official announcement. See? So many good things come from an H&M masstige line.

We haven’t come across any images yet, but let’s be patient. The new collection will be unveiled at Men’s Fashion Week in Milan in January next year. As for availability, the collection will be initially sold through 30 men’s specialty stores and department stores worldwide. The collection will also be made available through the designer’s online store. Here’s to hoping we’ll get them here in Dubai.
