It’s a shoe-in: Stella Luna AW2010
As a frequent mall shopper, you might have seen the Stella Luna store somewhere in the Dubai Mall, standing proud with racks of beautiful pumps and bold leather boots. You might have had a curious wondering about the brand – who’s behind it, where are the products made?
But as a follower of European-made products, you might have stored that thought in a tiny little drawer in one corner of your mind – for reference at an uncertain point in the future – left to gather mental dust until the next time you walk by the Stella Luna boutique. It’s time to open the drawer and retrieve that old thought because Stella Luna shouldn’t be remembered as some vague brand you can sort of recall but don’t really know anything about. It deserves more than that.
Obviously, their shoes are not Louboutins, being on the affordable end of the cost spectrum, but that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t get as much attention. They’re trendy and edgy and just plain beautiful; the fact that the shoes don’t cost two arms and a leg is just an added bonus.
In 2006, a group of talented shoemakers, who have worked with international brands such as Celine, Christian Lacroix, Donna Karan, Emilio Pucci, Givenchy, Loewe and Marc Jacobs, banded together to form the Stella Luna brand in Italy and launch the entity in Shanghai, China. It marked the beginning of a new era – of footwear-centric fashion – which has since swept the world, from the Sleeping Dragon and beyond. That’s a little bit of fashion history for you.
Fast forward to this season, Stella Luna’s AW2010 collection is all about emotional adventure, featuring styling elements such as chains, fringes, tassels and Alexander Wang-like buckles. The fashion world is also going crazy about fur this season, even in the relatively warm Winters of Dubai, and the brand’s enticing selection of fuzzy boots – both flat and high-heeled – do not disappoint. With prices ranging from AED 690 to AED 1,890, Stella Luna’s AW2010 range is definitely a shoo-in.
