You’re invited: Who’s Next Shopping Day

By  |  0 Comments

By now you will have already learned about the forthcoming Shopping Day at Parisian exhibition Who’s Next in Dubai, so we know you’re biting your nails, anxious about the kind of fashion you’d be able to score on Thursday. It’s the good kind of nervousness you’re experiencing though, because we’re telling you, the stuff is amazing.

The exhibition is currently showcasing over 200 brands from all over the world, including local names ESSA, DAS Collection and Rana Saab, as well as an eclectic mix of up-and-coming labels from Lebanon, Brazil, Spain, France, the UK and the US. We did the rounds at the show today to handpick a number of recommendations for your shopping adventure on Thursday and these are who made our hot list.

The first label we’re eyeing is Deux Lux. An American brand founded in 2005 by mother-daughter duo Fatemeh Mahdavi and Sara Naghedi, the company prides itself for their high-quality synthetic leather bags that look classy and expensive without bearing price tags that read “An arm and a leg, and maybe a bit of your soul, too.” They’re also known for their basket woven leather patterns that channel Bottega Veneta on a budget, with one of their representatives jokingly describing this particular design as “faux-tega”.

Another booth that’s worth visiting is Bernard Serra’s which is lined with dozens of bedazzled accessories that are just perfect for the fashionably bold ladies of Dubai. There are clutches, necklaces, brooches, headbands (for Blair Waldorf’s minions out there) and even Swarovski-studded masks. Because, really, everything looks better with Swarovski crystals on them.

Pakistan’s Muse should also be one of your stops. The young fashion label has a number of interesting pieces on show, much of them in white Italian linen (very much on trend as per recent Fashion Weeks’ white-washed collections) glammed up with shiny gold and gunmetal beads. And lastly, Parisian brand Trust Couture, despite the fact that they’re not selling anything on Thursday, should be engraved on your itinerary. They have the most amazing leather military jackets and while you may not be able to take home a piece of the brand, you’ll always have the personal experience of viewing such an exquisite collection to cherish.

That’s only four brands and we’re already going crazy with anticipation. There’s hundreds more to check out, so we’ll leave you and your Dubai-bred shopping prowess to explore the rest of the exhibition.
