Koton pays tribute to Mad Men this Fall
Crazy about the elegant aesthetic spearheaded by the Mad Men cast? Then it might be a good idea to check out Koton now because the Turkish retail powerhouse’s Autumn/Winter 2010 collection is all about the retro influences of the late 50s and the early 60s.
The upcoming season heralds the return of timeless beauty, which we believe will present an interesting dynamic in Dubai’s fashion horizon. Why? Well, the Dubai style philosophy is flat-out bling and over the top, and it is for this particular reason that we very much welcome Koton’s deviant theme for Fall. Our trend report for A/W 2010-2011 may spell metallics, embellishments, and fur, but the option to go for simplistic chic can be as much fun as glamming up like there’s no tomorrow.
For their new A/W collection, Koton is pushing mid-calf skirts in luxe wools or soft leathers, classic high-waisted 70s flare trousers, vintage military numbers and skinny sheers. But their key piece, which should come in very handy once the weather becomes more agreeable, is the cocooning wrap coat. Getting an overall feel of the sepia-toned look book, we can safely say that camel is the new nude.
And don’t forget to try on their leopard print coat. Animal prints may look sleazy, and they are most of the time, however Koton’s rendition just looks perfect.
