Pleats, bows, and statement totes: H&M Summer 2010 Collection

Last week, we gave you H&M design chief Ann-Sofie Johansson’s tips on how to spruce up your style this hot, humid season. Now, we’re giving you our top picks from H&M’s Summer 2010 collection so you won’t have to go rummaging through your closet just to be in line with Ann-Sofie’s fashion verses.

Much like Spring, you can’t have enough bold colours and eclectic prints this Summer. It’s all about pleats and big bows too when it comes to dresses and skirts, and it looks like strappy gold heels are clawing their way back on the fashion radar. Colours, prints and gold-souq gloss a little too much for you? Oversize black and white striped shirt (with rockstar chic detail on the shoulders – love it) and jeans for you, then.

We know June and July conjure images of a shopping holiday for all of us here in Dubai, but if the global economic meltdown or whatever they call it these days still has you penny pinching then we suggest you just get that stylish little statement tote. It’s definitely going to outlast your already last-season Marc Jacobs fringe boho, and as a plus, it lets you express your sentiment for saving the ocean.

Same trends as above for men, but jumping in a pair of above-the-knee shorts is becoming a more and more common method of idling the Summer heat away. Match with an artsy print tee (either of the above works fine) and suede moccasins then top off with that oh-so-cool-in-the-eyes odd jacket and you’re good to go strolling by the open beaches in Jumeirah.

H&M’s Summer Collection 2010 is now available at all H&M stores in the UAE and across the Middle East.
