RAGAZZO: The Eyjafjallajökull effect
Apparently, that volcano Eyjafjallajökull in faraway Iceland is not just about getting passengers stuck in the airport and million-dollars losses for airlines. It’s done us a few good things, surprisingly. Firstly, we now know that Iceland should be presented with an award for coming up with the weirdest volcano name ever.
Secondly, and more importantly, the accessories-obsessed fashion world is going to have a holiday with the launch of Swiss watchmaker Romain Jerome‘s Eyjafjallajökull-DNA limited edition timepiece. Yes, a watch was launched in the middle of it all – the ashfall, the delayed flights, the millions of dollars lost, and the countless hours spent learning how to correctly pronounce that volcano’s name. Timely, don’t you think?
With a dial that looks like it’s going to burst any second and emit lava and all kinds of intense stuff (This is one of those moments when we can say “stuff” and not end up sounding like a bunch of teenagers), the Eyjafjallajökull-DNA piece is beautifully unique and authentically crafted from ash ejected by the Eyjafjallajökull volcano. Yup, there’s even a certificate of authenticity to confirm that.
We love how RJ was able to turn around such a disastrous moment for the travel industry and make a commemorative piece that shall be enjoyed by the style community for many years to come. The Eyjafjallajökull-DNA is definitely our Accessory of the Week.
