Can’t go wrong with Mulholland

We’re going ultra luxist this time for our handbag of the week – so we’re picking the Mulholland Safari bag in American Alligator. If we had only two words to describe this piece, then we would say it’s OPULENTLY BEAUTIFUL. And it should be, because it’s going to cost you $15,600 (~ AED 57,000).

You’re probably wondering, who/what the heck is Mulholland? How can they charge Hermes-esque prices for their pieces? It’s totally acceptable if you’ve never heard of the brand, because they’re not crazy about brand marketing unlike other luxury brands out there (McDonald’s of luxury, ring any bells?). What the San Francisco-based craftsmen have been doing since their inception 20 years ago is create lush leather handbags, travel bags, and accessories for more established brands, including Aston Martin and Bentley.

And with or without a glorious tradition, they’re offering you something made completely of alligator skin, so the pricing is spot on and justified. If you want a Mulholland Safari, you can place your order online and have the bag custom-made in true luxury connoisseur fashion.

Now we’re waiting for PETA‘s letter about how distasteful we are for featuring a dead alligator on La Moda and encouraging people to kill more animals for fashion. Then we’re going to write them back about how tacky it is to target Hollywood stars like Catherine Zeta Jones just to generate some publicity.
